- HC21, along with the National Business Coalition on Health, established the College for Value Based Purchasing of Health Benefits in 2004. The College offers a comprehensive health benefits training program combining traditional management techniques with value-based purchasing and consumerism. Since its formation, the College has trained over 500 health benefit professionals.
- HC21 is a "Regional Rollout Leader" of the Leapfrog Group – a national organization whose focus is to improve the quality of healthcare within the hospital setting. As one of seven original rollout leaders, HC21 is one of the most successful regions within the nation to encourage local hospitals to complete a self-evaluation tool on their implementation of national patient safety standards.
- HC21 is a member of the National Business Coalition on Health (NBCH), an umbrella coalition consisting of 60 regional coalitions, representing 10,000 companies and 34 million covered lives. NBCH provides expertise, resources and a voice for its member coalitions throughout the United States, and represents each community coalition at the national level. NBCH is dedicated to making the coalition movement the vehicle for meaningful change in the healthcare system throughout the nation.
- HC21 participates as a member of the National Quality Forum (NQF). The NQF is a not-for-profit organization created to develop and implement a national strategy for healthcare quality measurement and public reporting. Governed by consumers, purchasers, providers and researchers, the NQF has set forth to establish a national measurement standard for quality healthcare.

Formed in 1997, HC21 is a leader and catalyst in creating market solutions to meet the evolving changes in healthcare. We represent 90+ members with more than 500,000 covered lives in East and Middle TN and recently welcomed members from the newly formed Georgia Council.
