The HC21 Data Cooperative is a group of employers who have come together to collect, store, normalize, analyze and ACT on their data in order to improve the value of healthcare benefits they provide for their employees and dependents.
The key difference is our data cooperative project takes the
information and makes it ACTIONABLE.
Participants in the HealthCare 21 Data Cooperative maximize the value of their data by:
Owning and accessing their data
Their data is now in a place where they can get to it.
Identifying opportunities
Coop members, through quarterly reports and brainstorming meetings, are recognizing the
“low hanging fruit” emerging in the illnesses and utilization patterns for their populations.
Purchaser Initiatives
Coop members, with the assistance of HealthCare 21 and outside experts, develop, decide,
implement and track strategies to address the issues prevalent in the data.
Currently we are working with members on two initiatives.
Chronic Disease Management
Automated Claims Auditing
Various Intervention programs
Benchmarking
Data coop members, through quarterly reports and meetings, enjoy the benefit of comparing
their company analyses against their Data Coop peers.
Using HC21 staff for ad hoc reports and special projects
Data Cooperative members have access to HC21 analysts and outside experts who run
ad hoc queries and analyses based on spontaneous and emerging needs. The Data
Cooperative currently involves from HC21 two full time analysts and two nurses that oversee
many facets of this flagship project. In addition, HC21 uses specialized consultants,
including two physicians, an actuary, and a PhD statistician.
Leadership
Through grant opportunities and cutting edge quality and efficiency projects, Data Coop
members are taking the lead in improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare in their
communities. Currently, Data Coop analysis is being applied to evaluating P4P and High
Performance Network programs being marketed by endorsed Health Plans. We are proud of
the transparency of our endorsed plans to work so cooperatively with our data coop projects
to insure that the needs of the community are being addressed.
