Mentoring & Management Program

Background
Often, HealthCare 21 Business Coalition (HC21) members have new or current benefit managers who want to develop a deeper understanding of the principles of Value Based Purchasing (VBP) and Value Based Benefit Design (VBBD).  HC21 realizes that good strategy is only the beginning and good strategy fails if there is not good execution.  With this in mind HC21 has developed a program for members.

Description
Where the current services of HC21 focus on analysis, recommendations strategy and action plan development, this program is oriented toward ongoing implementation and staff development.  Specifically the program includes the following:

•    Quarterly class meetings as a small M&M group (usually 5-10 people)
•    Reading assignments and real work project assignments
•    Coaching from HC21 senior staff
•    Development of a health benefit plan for the organization

Overview
The functional and practical areas where a class member will gain professional expertise are:

•    health and productivity improvement as a strategic imperative;
•    plan performance,
•    health risk management, including clinical interventions and disease management,
•    pharmacy benefit management,
•    data management, and
•    benefit design and employee engagement and consumerism principles.

M&M sessions are provided to HC21 members at no charge.  Participants in the program gain the ability to measure the impact of better health of their insured populations in their respective organizations. The expectation is that the participant will be able to document the financial implications of health and productivity improvement to the organization’s bottom line.
