HC21, TJU, and GPBCH Receive Silver Medal for Abstract

HealthCare 21 Business Coalition (HC21), along with colleagues from Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) and Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health (GPBCH), recently had two abstracts accepted for poster presentation at the upcoming Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Annual Meeting; "Utilization of Non-opioid Pain Therapies Prior to Initiating an Opioid Among Chronic Opioid Users Across Multiple Employer Group Plans" and "Healthcare resource utilization and costs in chronic and acute opioid users over 2 years: a chohort analysis". Poster presentations provide a forum during which authors can share their insights and outcomes, and interested attendees can interact with authors and review their findings.

Their submission on non-opioid pain therapies was awarded a Silver medal, which will be displayed on their poster at the April 2018 event. Each abstract was assessed by reviewers using a 1-5 scale on the following 5 criteria: relevance, originality, quality, bias and clarity. These are the same criteria used by JMCP to evaluate manuscripts. The abstract's average score on the 5 criteria was used to award Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Only twenty percent of the submitted abstracts were given this award.
